Kleenex Girl Wonder: Secret Thinking (Self-Released): Graham Smith is an underrated genius and he writes such relatable lyrics about love and relationships. This is really just an excuse to mention him because he happened to put out a record in 2011, but he's written so many good songs. Ponyoak (an album he put out in 1998) is probably the most sentimental album I'll ever own. No matter what I've moved on to, I come back to it every year. -- Peggy

(cover art by Etz)

Reesonable is proud to announce the forthcoming release of "Secret Thinking," the 11th full-length album from Kleenex Girl Wonder.

The album will be released on March 8, 2011, through http://kgw.me and other major digital retailers.

There will be a deluxe physical version with a book containing lyrics (with annotations) and production notes.

The album will be available for digital-only purchase via kgw.me starting February 22nd.

Let's take a look at the main data points about "Secret Thinking."

10 anthemic, verbose, and potentially heart-rending rock tunes

Recorded in an architectural landmark in Southern Illinois

Produced by Matt LeMay (Get Him Eat Him, The Capstan Shafts, Mr. Dream)

Sounds like a real album by a real rock band

You may find the last data point confusing. Allow me to explain by way of a bit of KGW history.

Graham Smith created Kleenex Girl Wonder with a coterie of his high-school friends in suburban Chicagoland in the spring of 1994.

Graham and friends (mostly Graham since he had the least friends of all his friends and therefore the most free time) started churning out albums, 7" singles and EPs at a rapid clip, all recorded at home as opposed to in a fancy-schmancy studio.

"Secret Thinking" is the first album to buck that trend, adding professional arrangements and production to the trademark KGW sound.

In the past 15 years, KGW have toured the U.S. and Japan with a slowly-revolving lineup of ace musicians and spiritual advisors, as well as released 10 albums. Here's a list of full-length releases:

Kleenex Girl Wonder, "Sexual Harassment" (1996)

Kleenex Girl Wonder, "Graham Smith is the Strongest Man Alive" (1998)

Kleenex Girl Wonder, "Ponyoak" (1999)

Kleenex Girl Wonder, "Smith" (2000)

Kleenex Girl Wonder, "After Mathematics" (2002)

Graham Smith, "Final Battle" (2004)

Graham Smith & KGW, "November Brain" (2006)

Graham Smith & KGW, "Yes Boss" (2008)

KGW, "Mrs. Equitone" (2009)

Graham Smith, "Accept the Mystery" (2010)

And now, we add "Secret Thinking."

10 songs, each with earworm-grade melodies, thesaurus-friendly lyrics, and maximum sing-alongability.

The first single is entitled "Thanks! ...For the Emotional Disease" and will find its way to your ears in early February via the Internet and its magical distribution mechanisms.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about this exciting release.

XX. 10 More and We Shall Become Pornographiye.

That last word in the Title is for the search spiders*. I'm excited to announce that I am going to be transitioning to more of a technology advisory role here at Reesonable. It's a very exciting change of power and place and things so I'm psyched to explore these new alleyways and server clusters and stuff.

Anyway, Graham told me that before I step down literally into the sewers of the expanding gross computer network that I basically know nothing about as Graham and his growing "bored" of directors oust me from my position of serious leverage with their supercool avant garde musical bullshit projects, he wanted to let me do something special as a sort of "going-away" present to him, since ultimately he keeps all of the revenue from sales and I don't get any sort of kickback, I mean shit any sort of payment any which way, but luckily I own instead of rent my construction-grade perma-trailer so I have the freedom to be an enterpreneur.

So here is a discount code, only good through Sunday November 28th evening, for 30% off any fixed price item on kgw.me:

KGWBFF

So the new KGW album is done. Done-done, artwork getting finalized, release model being mulled over.

It is called "Secret Thinking." And it is really great, I won't even spoil that with my petty bullshit. I'm proud to be one of the proud few to have heard it.

So as I shuffle off into the great sub-basement of post-non-IPO technical leadership, let me leave you with this quote, which I believe was originated by Bob Dylan:

"Don't let me go, oh brother; I'm just a roadshow lovin' albatross upon your necktie, I won't let you down."

Isn't it weird how the football series of games is just called "Madden" now? I mean, it's ALSO a relevant verb in the context of mansport.

Tarzan here with a sizeable update!

KGW album prices will be rising on September 1st.

This represents a month-long reprieve from the original plan. Shouldn't be significant increases, but just be aware, OK?

Also on September 1st, which is (naturally) a mathematically auspicious date (9-1-10), we'll be FINALLY posting some physical releases on the various Reesonable sites. Here's what we're hoping to launch with:

KGW, "Mrs. Equitone"

Graham Smith & KGW, "Yes Boss"

Graham Smith, "Final Battle"

Gates of Heaven, "Golden Master"

Kuthumi, "Cthuyou"/"Purrfect Meeracle"

Some of these will be simply packaged, in a sling-out plastic case with art. Some will come in a "deluxe" 7"x7" plastic sleeve with literature and art.

Get excited! It's been a long time coming!
